Gonzo Journalism - Tim Cutter, representitive of TUSC

This is an example of Gonzo Journalism, which I will explain in depth in a subsequent blog.
I have also added an interview that I had with Tim Cutter on the end, which departs from the idea of Gonzo Journalism, however I think it adds to the content of the video.
Many of my fellow students got the chance to follow a political candidate whilst they went canvasing, however I only got to go to a TUSC (Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition) public debate which was held in preparation for the up coming general election.
From this video you can gain an idea of the core ideas of the party.

  1. This is good Kat, but not your best work - it is essentially just a conventional package based on a single meeting. You needed to knock about with them, catch the flavour of what they are like rather than just a fair summary of what they say. It needs to be much more like Vron's piece on the Tory or Glenn's UKIP person. With this genre of feature it is all about seeing not telling, and the piece is full of them just preaching essentially. But it is very good initiative to go and do it. It has all the usual strengths of your film-making, except that it is a bit dark to begin with. Still some people did a Gonzo peice about election night in the newsroom, so I will take all of that into account, seeing that you led the team on election night.
